| Die Galerie Michael Janssen Berlin freut sich, im Januar die umfangreiche Einzelausstellung deva-loka von Yoshitaka Amano zu pr�sentieren. Bis Ende Februar 2008 werden in den Berliner Galerier�umen mehr als drei�ig neue Arbeiten des K�nstlers zu sehen sein: Gro�formatige Leinw�nde mit verschlungenen Kosmen voller fantastischer Gestalten, daneben eine Reihe kleinerer Aluminiumbilder mit grimmigen Superhelden, elfenhaften Heroinnen und psychedelischen Fabelwesen sowie einige neue Anime-Filme. Amano, geboren 1952 im japanischen Shizuoka, begann seine Karriere Mitte der Siebziger Jahre in den gro�en japanischen Zeichentrickfilmstudios und erwies sich mit der Gestaltung von popul�ren Charakteren f�r Anime, Manga und Videospiele als einflussreicher Pionier des Genres. Seit den Achtziger Jahren widmet er sich verst�rkt eigenen Projekten als freischaffender K�nstler. Yoshitaka Amano lebt und arbeitet in Tokio und New York. Neben seinen Erfolgen als grafischer Entwickler der Gatchamanserie (G-Force), der Final-Fantasy-Zyklen und vieler weiterer Heldengeschichten f�r die Trickfilm- und fr�he Videospielindustrie, sind Amanos Arbeiten im Kontext zeitgen�ssischer Kunst in Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen unter anderem im Barbican Art Centre London, dem Museum of Contemporary Art Shanghai und dem Kunstverein Heilbronn gezeigt worden. Im Anschluss zeigt das Deutsche Filmmuseum in Frankfurt seine Arbeiten im Rahmen der Ausstellung Anime! High Art � Pop Culture. Die Ausstellung, zu der eine umfangreiche Publikation erscheint, zieht danach weiter ins d�nische Louisiana Museum. Eine Auswahl von Amanos Filmen wird im Fr�hjahr 2008 zudem in der Sonderausstellung Global Eurasia des japanischen Kulturinstituts K�ln zu sehen sein. ------------------------------- The Galerie Michael Janssen Berlin is pleased to present the solo exhibition deva-loka by Yoshitaka Amano in January, which will comprise more than thirty new works. Until the end of February 2008, expansive canvases and mid-sized aluminium panels with fabled beings, psychedelic ornamentation and grim superheroes as well as new films by the cartoon specialist will be on show in the Berlin gallery space. Amano, born in Shizuoka City, Japan, in 1952, who rose to fame via the creation of anime, manga and video game characters, began his career in Japan�s major cartoon studios in the mid 1970s. Since the 1980s he devoted himself to independent projects as a freelance artist. Yoshitaka Amano lives and works in Tokyo and New York. In addition to his work as the graphic developer and designer for the Gatchaman series (G-Force), the Final Fantasy Cycles and many other heroic epics for the animated cartoon and the then nascent video game industry, Amano's creations have also been displayed in solo and group exhibitions at diverse locations including the Barbican Art Centre, London, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Shanghai and the Kunstverein Heilbronn (Heilbronn Arts Association). The German Film Museum in Frankfurt will subsequently be including his works in its exhibition Anime! High Art � Pop Culture. After this, the exhibition, which will be accompanied by a detailed catalogue, will proceed to the Louisiana Museum in Denmark. A selection of Amano�s films will also be on show during the special exhibition Global Eurasia, held in the Japan Foundation in Cologne in the spring of 2008.
